US Green Card Lottery DV-2018 Results
DV 2018 Results are out and those winners who were selected by the computer random draw at the Kentucky Consular Center in Williamsburg can check their status on-line as postal mail is no longer used to announce the winners. This winner’s announcement on-line will continue till the end of July 2018. Those who are not selected for the American visa lottery program will not get any notifications either.
Please note that the KCC will NOT announce the winners through E-mail, Fax or Telephone, it is the applicants responsibility to check their status online. If you get any notification in this way, please double check it.
All the DV2018 visa lottery participants can check their status online in the American Government’s official web site from May 2, 2017 till 30th April 2018. Applicants will need their confirmation number which was given to them when their DV Lottery application form was submitted online. Further more, applicants will be asked to provide their personal details to get the online results.
The Kentucky Consular Center in Williamsburg, has registered and notified the winners of the DV-2018 diversity lottery via their web site. The diversity lottery was conducted under the terms of section 203(c) of the Immigration and Nationality Act and makes available 50,000 permanent resident visas annually to persons from countries with low rates of immigration to the United States. Approximately 115,968 applicants have been registered and notified and may now make an application for a green card. Since it is likely that some of the first 50,000 persons registered will not pursue their cases to visa issuance, this larger figure should insure that all DV-2018 numbers will be used during fiscal year 2018 (October 1, 2017 until September 30, 2018).
Applicants that registered for the DV-2018 diversity visa lottery program were selected at random from 14,692,258 applications that qualified, (and 23,088,613 if you also count the applicants spouses and children) during the 34-day application period that ran from noon on October 4, 2016, until noon, November 7, 2016. The visas have been diveded among the six regions with a maximum of seven percent available to persons born in any single country. During the green card visa interview, the principal applicants must provide proof of a high school education or its equivalent, or show two years of work experience in an occupation that requires at least two years of training or experience within the past five years. Those selected diverisyt visa lottery applicants will need to act on their immigrant visa applications quickly. Applicants should follow the instructions in their notification letter that they received online when they checked their DV2018 status and they must fully complete the information requested on the immigration forms.
Registrants living legally in the United States who wish to apply for adjustment of their status must contact the Bureau of Citizenship and Immigration Services for information on the requirements and procedures. Once the total 50,000 visa numbers have been used, the program for fiscal year 2018 will end. Selected applicants who do not receive visas by September 30, 2018 will derive no further benefit from their DV-2018 registration. Similarly, spouses and children accompanying or following to join the DV-2018 principal applicant are only entitled to derivative diversity visa status until September 30, 2018.
Only participants in the DV-2018 Diversity Visa lottery Program who were selected for further processing have been notified when they checked their status online. Those who have not received notification when they checked their status online were not selected, such applicants may try for the upcoming DV-2027 lottery if they wish. The dates for the registration period for the DV-2027 lottery program are now and until November 8, 2025.
* The Nicaraguan and Central American Relief Act (NACARA) passed by Congress in November 1997 stipulated that up to 5,000 of the 55,000 annually-allocated diversity visas be made available for use under the NACARA program. The reduction of the limit of available visas to 50,000 began with DV-2000.
